What Is Involved In Getting A Restricted Drivers License Olathe Kansas Teens Apply For

Driving is a privilege, not a right. Before teens can get full licenses there are requirements that must be met. In many states that have large agricultural areas, teens are allowed to get farm permits, but these have restrictions on them as well. Individuals who have been charged with driving under the influence may be able to apply for restricted licenses. The restricted drivers license Olathe Kansas teens need has a number of requirements.

In Kansas it is possible to get an instruction or farm driving permit as soon as teens reach fourteen. Before the state will issue one however, teenagers have to complete an application form and pass an eye exam and written test. Once they have a permit, youngsters may drive, but only if they have someone in the front seat who is at least 21.

Nobody else is allowed in the front seat. Teenagers are also required to get a minimum of twenty-five hours of driving practice under supervision. The practice sessions can be recorded on AAA Driving Logs, which the organization makes available for free online.

When teenagers reach the age of fifteen, with at least a year of permitted driving, they can get for restricted licenses. In order to obtain one, the teen must have the twenty-five hours of supervised practice and have completed a driver's education course. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application.

After they have these licenses, teens are permitted to go driving alone to and from specified locations. Permitted destinations include church events, school, and jobs. They are allowed to drive siblings. If they have someone 21 or older in the car with them, they may drive anywhere.

At sixteen teenagers are allowed to drive by themselves and don't have any restrictions on where they can go. They still have restrictions when it comes to the hours they are permitted to drive. Teens can only drive alone from five a. M. To nine p. M. They can only have one passenger who is under eighteen and who isn't an immediate member of the family.

Teens are not permitted to use cell phones or any kind while they are driving. No one in Kansas is allowed to text or email while driving. At the age of sixteen and a half, teenagers may apply for full licenses. They must have met all the requirements and not be cited for any infractions in the previous six months.

Along with the application for a full license teens have to prove they've completed 50 hours of driving practice with supervision. 10 of those hours have to be night driving. After the teenagers get these licenses, there are no longer any driving restrictions.

Teens who live on farms, or work on farms, can get farm permits as young as fourteen. With a permit the teenager can drive anywhere as long as it pertains to a farm related activity. To get a farm permit the teen must submit a completed application, take a written exam and an eye exam. Kansas defines a farm as a property containing at least twenty acres.
