Having A Mouse For A Pet At Home

By Richard Morgan

People can choose whatever animal they cold have as pet at home. That may be the usual type of animals seen in every house like cats or dogs. It may as well be something that is quite exciting to have like for example snakes or tarantula. Others opt to having those that are considered as pests like mouse. This small things can be destructive when they live in a household but there are still those individual who choose to let them stay around and take care of them. However, those who are trying to have one of them for the first time needs to understand that they have great needs as well like their cage that serves as its home. Though there are mouse vivarium San Diego which are perfect for them.

These vivariums is like a cage with a temperature set which is highly suitable for their survival. The scent that goes all over it would as well be something they are comfortable of and not something they would be irritated of. Some of these cages has built in areas where the food as well as water are placed but this could still not be suitable unless the mouse grow.

If the mouse is still a baby and it is not yet capable of eating on its own, it would be best to feed them through liquid nourishment. Which means, they will need to get milk intake. One should ensure that the milk is not from cows but any of the following formula, baby, kitten, goat, or puppy milk formula.

New born mouse does not have the ability to have their eyes opened so feeding them would mean putting the milk directly on their mouths. It would be easier to use syringe or dropper by pumping it on their small mouth. They should be given food every two hours.

When feeding them, owners should wait till they have swallowed the liquid before pumping again so they will not choke on it. It still have a tiny mouth and throat so it may get a while before it could completely swallow the mixture given to them. Only offer amount of milk the mouse wants, do not try to force them from taking it when they no longer are capable of swallowing it.

However when they can have their eyes open, it is the right time to give them solid foods. It will be up to the owner if they will mix it still with liquid nourishment but its okay not to. Some of the foods that are suitable for mice are kitten, hamster and baby human food mixtures. They could as well have some soft cook veggies like squash.

One fact that every mouse owner should remember, when mice are still baby they have no ability to urinate on their own. When they are with their mother, their mothers will lick them so it can do such thing. However, when their mothers are no longer with them, the only way to make them pee is for their owner to stimulate them to doing so. Every after feeding them, dip a cotton ball in a warm water then move it to their genitals gently until they are able to pee.

Mice though can be a carrier of disease. However, the probability is low, it still is something to worry of. There are tips that needs to get done so that owners are safe. Use gloves when touching them and have a habit of washing hands carefully. It would as well help if the ticks on its body are removed.

Mice are wise creatures and they need to have activities that could stimulate their brain. It will be of help to add toys they can chew on or interact with inside their cage or vivarium. One can include mouse wheels as well.
